About us

We are one of Germany’s leading legal AI engineering teams, based in Berlin. We’re building the Palantir for legal: Combining our own technology platform with Legal AI Engineers who work directly alongside law firms to build AI systems around their knowledge, expertise and workflows.

AI-native firms are changing how legal services are delivered and priced. Adopting Harvey or Legora alone won’t answer that competitive pressure. Established firms need to redesign how work gets done around their own expertise, economics and clients. We build the systems that make this possible, workflow by workflow, helping firms protect their margins and retain control over their knowledge and data.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve worked with dozens of law firms. We’re bootstrapped, profitable and approaching €1M ARR, and we’re considering a funding round in 2027. Our team has previously built and sold a business in a seven-figure exit to private equity.

As our first engineering hire, you’ll own the technical foundation from core architecture to production, so our Legal AI Engineers can build and run bespoke AI systems for each firm at scale.

The role

You are our first engineering hire. You own the platform our legal engineers and law-firm clients run on, from architecture to on-call.

This is not a ticket-taking job. You decide where the boundaries sit, how tenants stay isolated, and what we measure. You work directly with the founders and our legal engineers, and you help shape the engineering team that comes after you.

What you'll do

  • Design and build the core platform end to end: APIs, data model, background jobs and the frontend our legal engineers work in
  • Own production: deployments, infrastructure as code, monitoring, incident response
  • Make multi-tenant data isolation and security a property of the architecture, not an afterthought
  • Build observability in from day one: metrics, traces and structured logs
  • Work with our legal engineers to turn real law-firm workflows into reusable platform capabilities
  • Set the engineering standards, tooling and AI-assisted workflows the team will scale with
  • Help hire and grow the engineering team

Our stack

TypeScript end to end, all on AWS. On the backend we run Bun, Hono and Effect; on the frontend Next.js + React, connected via tRPC. Data lives in Postgres (Drizzle), with Redis (BullMQ) for queues and caching.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years building production backend systems. You have been responsible for a system in production: queues, caches, databases, streaming pipelines, distributed schedulers. You can talk through failure modes and trade-offs from systems you have actually run.
  • Strong in TypeScript: You are opinionated about API design, abstractions and where boundaries should sit.
  • Solid architecture fundamentals: software architecture, API design, distributed systems and data modeling.
  • Strong infrastructure experience: Terraform or Pulumi, cloud deployments, networking and AWS.
  • Observability by instinct. You add metrics, traces and structured logs because you have been on call and know you will need them.
  • Security-first mindset. Multi-tenant data isolation is a design constraint, not a postscript.
  • AI-native workflow. You are a heavy user of coding agents and AI tooling, with opinions on what works and what does not. You already compound your output with AI.
  • High ownership. You navigate ambiguous requirements and solve hard technical problems without waiting for a spec.
  • Clear communication in English, written and spoken.

You don't tick every box? Apply anyway.

Nice to have

  • Experience building LLM-based systems: agents, RAG, evals, guardrails
  • Previous early-stage or founding-team experience
  • Experience with compliance-heavy customers (legal, finance, healthcare), e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001 or SOC 2
  • German language skills

What we offer

  • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity as a founding team member
  • Real ownership: you set the technical direction of the platform from day one
  • Fast decisions and direct collaboration with the founders
  • A small, AI-native team, profitable and growing, with no pressure from a funding clock
  • An office in Berlin
